Visual Identity & Product Concept

A brand identity concept for a café inspired by the architecture and cultural role of a local library, translating structure and calm into a modern visual system.

Year :

2024

Industry :

Real Estate

Client :

VistaHaven

Project Duration :

2 weeks

OVERVIEW :

The Bergshamra Café project explores how a local place can inspire a complete visual identity.
Located in front of a public library, the café is designed as an extension of the space — a place for pause, reflection, and community.

Rather than following traditional café aesthetics, the concept focuses on translating architectural forms and cultural values into a calm and structured brand identity.

CONCEPT :

The idea was to create a café identity that feels connected to its surroundings.
By using the library as inspiration, the design reflects a more thoughtful and intellectual atmosphere rather than a typical commercial café.

The result is a concept where the café becomes part of a larger experience — not just a place to grab coffee, but a natural continuation of the library environment.

Design Process :

The design process began with studying the library’s architecture, focusing on its curved roof structure and repetitive forms.

These elements were simplified into geometric shapes, forming the foundation of the logo and visual language.

From there, the identity system was developed through:

  • logo exploration and refinement

  • grid-based layout design

  • pattern creation inspired by architectural rhythm

  • selection of a calm and natural color palette

VISUAL IDENTITY

The visual identity balances structure and softness.

  • The logo is derived from the library’s roof shape

  • Repeating patterns reflect architectural rhythm

  • Colors are inspired by natural materials and the surrounding environment

  • Typography is clean and modern to support clarity and readability

Together, these elements create a calm, cohesive, and recognizable brand.

Design Thinking :

This project explores how visual identity can shape perception.

Instead of presenting a café as energetic and busy, the design positions it as calm, local, and thoughtful.

It shows how branding can:

  • connect a product to its environment

  • shift expectations within a category

  • create a more meaningful user experience

RESULT

The final outcome is a modern and distinctive café concept rooted in place and context.

By combining architecture, storytelling, and design systems, the project demonstrates how a simple idea can evolve into a complete and coherent brand identity.
